SafeCare is an evidenced-based program that has been successfully implemented in other parts of the country and has been shown to be effective for families struggling with substance use, intimate partner violence, and depression – all factors that increase the risk of child abuse and neglect.

The SafeCare Colorado program offers in-home, voluntary services that support families in gaining skills to provide a safe home, address child health needs, and engage in positive interactions with their children ages five and under.

The SafeCare Model is an evidence-based program for parents of children aged 0-5 who are at-risk of, or have been reported for child neglect or physical abuse. SafeCare Educators work with families at home to improve their parenting skills. Educators make weekly home visits lasting from 50-90 minutes each for about 20 weeks, per family. SafeCare is a structured, evidence-based, and in-home parenting program that involves a provider and parent working together to create a safe home environment. The provider, also known as a home visitor, assists the parent in providing structure and routines, while encouraging systematic health decision-making to keep children safe while in their homes.
